Zach Selby Profile
Zach Selby is a Senior Writer for the Washington Commanders and is in his fifth season with the organization. His current responsibilities include providing the website with daily content, attending games, covering press conferences and assisting in managing the organization's website through page layout as well as updating the roster and transactions pages. Selby also provides direction for the organization's print publications, such as its annual yearbook and gameday magazines, which are published for every home game.
Selby is a 2018 graduate of the University of Maryland with his Master's of Journalism and a 2015 graduate of Maryville College with his Bachelor's in Writing/Communications. He has covered several beats throughout his career, including college basketball, football and baseball. He has also worked for several organizations as a freelance writer covering lacrosse, baseball, softball and women's field hockey.
The Tennessee native previously worked as a high school sports reporter for the Washington Post, where he covered men's and women's tennis in addition to track and field. While attending the University of Maryland, Selby worked for the Capital News Service and assisted in covering the 2018 Midterms.
In 2015, Selby was hired by Morgan County News and was promoted to the newspaper's Sports Editor six months later. He was in charge of the sports coverage for four high schools, five middle schools and an auto dirt racing track. Prior to resigning from the position in order to pursue his Master's, the newspaper earned an award from the Tennessee Press Association for "Best Sports Coverage" in its circulation group.
