In his most recent mock draft, CBSSports.com's Dane Brugler has the Redskins selecting Baylor nose tackle Andrew Billings in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Could the Redskins be looking to add to their defensive line depth in the offseason with a first-round pick in the fold?
CBSSports.com's Dane Brugler believes so, as he currently has the Redskins selecting Baylor nose tackle Andrew Billings with the 22nd overall pick in his most recent mock draft.
"Although he said he will return to Baylor for his senior season, Billings is playing himself into a high draft pick and plans might change," Brugler writes. "The Redskins have used veterans to fill the nose tackle spot, but Billings would give them a long-term option."
Billings, who is just 19 years old, just completed his junior season at Baylor, where he recorded career highs in tackles (39), tackles for loss (14) and sacks 5.5.
During Baylor's last four games of their season, Billings tallied 4.5 of his 5.5 sacks including two against Oklahoma State in a 45-35 victory on Nov. 21.
In the Russell Athletic Bowl against the University of North Carolina on Dec. 29, the 6-foot-2, 310 pounder recorded two tackles.
Billings was selected as an AP All-America first-team member along with being a unanimous first-team All-Big 12 selection, conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year with Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah and conference Defensive Lineman of the Year.
As a sophomore in 2014, Billings started all 13 games at nose tackle recording 37 tackles (11.5 for loss) and two sacks while being a consensus first-team All-Big 12 selection.
In 2014, Billings started two games and totaled 20 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss.
