As Redskins.com continues to look at various mock drafts, Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com has the Washington taking USC defensive back Adoree' Jackson at No. 17 in his most recent mock draft update.
Adoree' Jackson did everything asked of him in his three years at USC including playing cornerback and safety on defense, being a return man on special teams and even playing some receiver for the Trojans.
The Redskins have retooled their secondary this offseason with signing D.J. Swearinger and moving Su'a Cravens, who was a teammate of Jackson at USC, to safety.
But the Redskins still could be looking to add more youth and playmaking ability to the defense which is why Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com has the Redskins taking USC defensive back Adoree Jackson at No. 17.
"Based off some information, I think the Redskins' pick could come down to Reuben Foster, Marlon Humphrey, Adoree' Jackson or Reddick," Campbell begins. "Neither member of the Alabama duo is likely to make it to this pick, and the Redskins just made a steal of a signing with Zach Brown. Here, they can get a speedy slot corner who can help them defend against Odell Beckham Jr. and play on the inside of Josh Norman."
Campbell also added that Jackson could bring the Redskins some explosive return capabilities – eight career punt and kickoff return touchdowns.
"Jackson became a starter in 2014 and was a sensation who also contributed as a wide receiver and returner/coverage defender on special teams." Charlie writes. "Defensively, the freshman had 49 tackles with 10 passes deflected. He also caught 10 receptions for 138 yards with three touchdowns on offense. On special teams, Jackson returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and averaged 30 yards per kick return. For the NFL, the 5-foot-10, 186-pounder fits best as a cover cornerback."
In three seasons at USC, Jackson collected 139 tackles, six interceptions and three fumbles forced.
Additionally, Jackson garnered 39 receptions for 628 yards and six touchdowns.
The Belleville, Ill. native finished with an impressive five interceptions and 55 tackles as a junior in 2016. The impressive junior season helped Jackson collect two prestigious awards, the 2016 Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and the 2016 Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded annually to the top defensive back in college football.
