Considered one of the top quarterback prospects in this years' draft, Walter Football's Walter Cherepinsky has the Redskins taking the 6-foot-4 signal caller with the 15th selection in his most recent mock draft.
The Redskins could potentially be looking to boost their quarterbacks' room along with veterans Alex Smith and Colt McCoy by adding a young gunslinger in Lock. He would be the 13th quarterback taken in the first round by the Redskins in franchise history, and the first since 2012 when Washington selected Robert Griffin III with the second-overall pick.
"Drew Lock has a great arm and can make any throw." Cherepinsky said. "He should probably be taken in the second round, but we've seen teams reach for quarterbacks over the years."
Lock recently completed his senior year at Missouri, and officially declared for the draft after a 38-33 loss to Oklahoma State in the Liberty Bowl.
In four seasons at Missouri, Lock appeared in 50 games making 46 starts.
After taking over as the full time starter the final eight games of his freshman season in 2015, Lock went on to total 12,193 yards through the air, while throwing 99 touchdowns. He was also a threat to run as he rushed for 437 yards and nine touchdowns in his time as a Tiger.
Lock leaves Missouri as a three-time team captain, a Davey O'Brien and Maxwell Award preseason watch-list honoree in 2018, as he enjoyed a junior season in 2017 where he lead all of college football in passing touchdowns with 44.
Lock was also named to the 2018 All-SEC PreseasonFirst Team (Media), and was named the 2018Bob Jeffries Kansas City Metro Player of the Year.
According to his Draft Network player profile, Lock's "size, height and physical tools are all desirable. Arm strength for distance is very impressive. Upper-body mechanics are clean, over-the-top, snappy delivery. Velocity checks the box. Good poise in the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield and doesn't panic easily."
