The Washington Commanders had a strong run in head coach Dan Quinn's first season. Now, it's time to find ways to build and improve upon a roster that went 12-5 in the regular season and advanced to the NFC Championship for the first time in over 30 years.

Over the next few weeks, Quinn and general manager Adam Peters will review their personnel to determine what moves should be made to bolster each position. Though we don't have any say in how the new front office will mold the team going forward, Commanders.com will look back at how each group performed last season, breaking down top performers and looking ahead at where they could go next. The offensive line is up next.

On the roster

Tyler Biadasz
Nick Allegretti
Michael Deiter
Sam Cosmi
Chris Paul
Andrew Wylie
Brandon Coleman
Cornelius Lucas
Trent Scott

Top performers (per Pro Football Focus)

OVR: Cornelius Lucas (74.1)
RBLK: Chris Paul (72.4)
PBLK: Cornelius Lucas (79.1)

Stats to know

-- The Commanders had the third-ranked rushing attack in 2024, and that's a credit to the work the offensive line did to clear running lanes for Brian Robinson Jr., Austin Ekeler and the rest of Washington's running backs. They had a run-block win rate of 74%, which ranked second behind the Denver Broncos.

-- Biadasz provided the Commanders with some much-needed stability at center by staying relatively healthy and helping Jayden Daniels with protection calls. He was one of the most valuable additions to Washington's offense last offseason, as he allowed just one sack with a 98.6 efficiency rating from PFF.

Questions to answer

-- What to do at right guard? The Commanders signed Cosmi to a contract extension before the season, ensuring they'll have their answer at right guard for the foreseeable future. However, Cosmi's ACL injury he suffered during the Divisional round against the Detroit Lions means that he will likely miss at least some of the 2025 season. It creates a massive hole in the Commanders' starting lineup that must be filled with either a serviceable starter in free agency or a draft pick. Peters has proven himself an exceptional talent evaluator, but finding Cosmi's short-term replacement will be one of his biggest challenges this offseason.

-- What's next for Brandon Coleman? The Commanders were smart with Coleman's development to start the season, as he rotated with Lucas at left tackle before taking the role for himself. As is the case with many rookie offensive tackles, Coleman had both positive moments as well as periods where it was clear he needed more time to develop. The team remains confident that he can become a solid NFL tackle. He's primed to take his next step in Year 2, but he will need to put in the work in the offseason to do so.
