Commanders sign DT Eddie Goldman

The Washington Commanders announced today that they have signed defensive tackle Eddie Goldman. Full terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Goldman (6-3, 320) is a seven-year NFL veteran who was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He's played in 98 career games with 83 starts and tallied 123 tackles, 14.0 sacks and 19 tackles for loss.

Last season, Goldman came out of retirement after two seasons and played in 17 games with 10 starts for the Atlanta Falcons. He totaled 16 tackles, 1.0 sack and three quarterback hits.

Prior to his time in Atlanta, Goldman spent six seasons (2015-21) in Chicago and had 73 starts over that period. Goldman didn't play in 2020 after opting out due to COVID-19. In 2018, he started all 16 games and recorded a career-high 27 tackles and 3.0 sacks.

Goldman played three seasons (2012-2014) at Florida State University and finished his career with 62 tackles and 6.0 sacks in 36 games. He earned media and coaches All-ACC First Team in his senior year.

A native of Washington D.C., Goldman attended Friendship Collegiate Academy.
