The Washington Redskins likely won't know until Sunday morning if wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be ready to go for his first game against the Eagles, his former team, in Philadelphia.

Jackson, who has a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, is officially labeled as questionable for the game, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden confirmed Friday.

Jackson, who had not participated the previous two days of practice, did get in for some individual drills on Friday, although he was "very limited" the rest of the day, Gruden said.

"He did good today," Gruden said. "I think it was a step in a positive direction."

Gruden said "we'll get another look at him tomorrow with the trainers and then we'll gauge him on Sunday morning and see where he's at."

"I think he's taken steps in the right direction," the first-year head coach said of Jackson.

Jackson injured the shoulder in the first quarter of the Redskins' Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jackson – who went up for a catch around two Jaguars defenders, one of whom landed hard on his shoulder – left the game and did not return.

"It's just one of those situations where it was a fluke incident," Jackson said. "Just the impact of the ground and the guy falling on top of me was the biggest thing. I was just irritated. To (not) finish a game like that was tough."

Jackson told reporters on Wednesday that the soreness and the swelling in his shoulder had decreased, and he was constantly working with the team's training staff to help increase his chances of playing on Sunday.

Jackson said if he's able to go, he's looking forward to getting the opportunity to play against his former team, the Eagles, where he spent the first six years of his career, making three Pro Bowl appearances.

In 2013, Jackson earned his third Pro Bowl selection after logging career highs in receptions (82), yards (1,332) touchdowns (nine) and 100-yard games (five).

Despite putting up those numbers – and helping lead the Eagles to the NFC East title in 2013 – the team decided to release Jackson in March, giving the Redskins, their divisional opponent, a prime opportunity to sign one of the most dynamic players in the league.

Jackson said Wednesday that "if it's all on me, I'm playing" in Sunday's game.

"I don't plan on missing this game," he said.

Reed, others outGruden also confirmed that tight end Jordan Reed will miss his second straight game on Sunday with a hamstring strain.

Reed, who is in his second year with the Redskins, suffered the injury seven plays into the Redskins' season opener against the Houston Texans.

Reed was unable to practice this week. In his absence, tight end Niles Paul turned in a career day last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching eight passes for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Gruden commended Paul for earning his time on the field.

"I think he's one of those guys that came in as the third tight end, and Logan (Paulsen) was getting a lot of the reps, and obviously Jordan Reed was getting a lot of reps, and he was a guy that just had to fight for whatever rep he got and took advantage of them," Gruden said.

Gruden said Paul -- who was drafted by the team as a wide receiver before being coverted over to tight end -- started his improvement "in the weight room."

"And then when the reps came his way, he started making some plays, and all of a sudden his confidence started to grow, and he is where he is right now," Gruden said. "He's done a great job, both in the passing game and in the running game. He's a guy whose future has continued to look brighter and brighter every day. If he continues at this pace of getting better, great things are on the horizon for him."

Also listed as out for Sunday's game are quarterback Robert Griffin III (ankle), linebacker Akeem Jordan (knee) and cornerback Tracy Porter (hamstring).

Listed as doubtful is defensive lineman Kedric Golston, who's battling a groin injury, as are kicker Kai Forbath and center Kory Lichtensteiger, who are listed as questionable.

Listed as probable are fullback Darrel Young (neck), running back Roy Helu Jr. (quad), guard Shawn Lauvao (knee), outside linebacker Brian Orakpo (ankle) and safety Ryan Clark (foot).
