While there's uncertainty about how much he will practice this week after suffering a knee injury against the Bears, DeSean Jackson believes he'll be ready to go for Sunday's game against the Bills.
While the game is still four days away, Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson believes he'll be able to play on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills as he battles a knee injury.
"It's all right," Jackson told reporters Tuesday night at a community function. "It's a little sore and banged up a little bit. But it's nothing too serious that would keep me out. I played through it."
Jackson added: "I don't want people to think it's too serious. It will be all right. I'll be good."
The speedy wide receiver injured his knee on a spectacular sideline grab in the third quarter of the Redskins' 24-21 victory over the Chicago Bears.
As he got to feet inbounds, Jackson's knee banged off a soggy Soldier Field after Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller landed on top of him.
Jackson would be hobbled by the injury, occasionally showing a limp in his step as the game wore on, but the three-time Pro Bowler didn't want to come out of the game.
"I considered it, kind of left it up to him," Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said when asked if he thought about taking a hobbled Jackson out of the game. "He's pretty good about his body and he felt like he could go back in. He went back in there and hobbled around and tried to make some plays. I think he'll be OK. He'll probably miss a day or two of practice knowing him [laughter]. He'll be ready to go."
Since returning to the lineup against the New England Patriots in Week 9, Jackson has added a deep threat element that the Redskins did not have during Weeks 2-7 when the University of California product was hampered by a hamstring injury.
In each of the last five games, Jackson has recorded a reception of at least 28 yards while scoring touchdowns of 63 yards (Week 12 against New York) and 56 yards (Week 11 against Carolina).
This week, as the Redskins try to remain in the thick of a convoluted NFC East race, Jackson will face off against a Bills defense that is third in the league this season in average passing yards per attempt against (6.7).
"Being in the position we're at, we have a great opportunity,' Jackson said. "It's going to bother everybody to death if we don't close this out and do what we need to do. The past few years, we haven't been in that position. It's on us. If we don't get it done, we have us to look at and say, 'We blew it.'"
Including this Bills game, the Redskins have three crucial games left. A loss in any of the three could mean the season will end without a playoff berth for a third straight season.
"I'm just excited about having the opportunity, once again, to be playing meaningful games in December," he said. "It doesn't get any better than this. Every game from here on out, it's like a playoff game. As long as we look at it from that perspective, and handle what we need to handle, we'll be playing in January."
