Running back T.J. Duckett spoke with Redskins.com and the media shortly after he joined the team on Wednesday, Aug. 23. Duckett was acquired via trade with the Atlanta Falcons:
Q: Where do you feel you fit in on this offense?
A: "Right now, I am just going to find my role and jump into it. Right now, I'll do what I can to contribute to this team. It is definitely an offense where I feel I can get in and run the ball real well. It is a great system and around here they have great players. Just to be a part of that will be awesome
Q: How do you see your running style as compared to Clinton Portis?
A: "We have two different styles. I am more of a downhill runner and a bruising back. He is quick, fast, shifty, makes people miss and makes plays. Me? I am just going to beat them up and bruise them."
Q: What was your initial reaction to finding out that you were going to be traded to the Redskins?
A: "I was excited. It is a great opportunity and a great team. There is nothing but upside here. I am just glad to be a part of it and make things happen."
Q: How did your first meeting with head coach Joe Gibbs go?
"It was a great conversation. We just talked and tried to understand each other--just like when you meet someone for the first time."
Q: What have you heard about Coach Gibbs and the tradition here with the Redskins?
A: "Oh, man. He is a legend. Growing up, that is all you hear about from how he teaches the players on the field and how he is a players coach off the field. I am excited to get to know him more."
Q: You were a popular player in Atlanta. How does it feel to leave that city?
A: "I love the city of Atlanta. They have great people and are a great organization. Since the offseason, I have been hearing different rumors. I am just glad it is finally settled. One week, my name was in trade talk and the next trade talks were off. It was up and down like a yo-yo. I am just glad it is over and I can get to playing again."
