Embree Hired As Head Coach At Colorado

Tight ends coach Jon Embree is moving on.

Embree has been hired as head coach at the University of Colorado, his alma mater.

The news became official on Monday when the university announced the deal. Embree left the Redskins after Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

"This is a dream come true," Embree said. "It's truly a privilege when you have the opportunity to become head coach at your alma mater."

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan praised Embree's work.

"We're very happy for Jon," Shanahan said. "He'll make a great head coach…I'm very happy for him. It's a dream job for him. He has done a great job for us and I wish him well."

Embree joined the Redskins last offseason. He coached Chris Cooley, Fred Davis and undrafted rookie Logan Paulsen in his time in Washington.

Cooley is second on the Redskins with 60 catches for 664 yards and two touchdowns, while Davis has 16 catches for 291 yards and one touchdown. Paulsen recorded his first career reception in the Giants game.
