Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garçon was honored with a designation on the All-Joe Team in Friday's edition of the USA TODAY.

Created in 1992 by longtime NFL writer Larry Weisman as a tribute to the unsung heroes on the gridiron, the All-Joe Team spotlights at least one player for every team that has never been selected to the Pro Bowl.

This season, Garçon paced the NFL in receptions, hauling in 113 passes from quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins to break a 29-year-old franchise record set by Hall of Famer Art Monk.

He also rushed twice for 19 yards.

The team's second leading receiver this season was rookie tight end Jordan Reed, who caught only 45 passes in nine games. Garçon (113) had nearly as many as the team's next three receivers combined (Reed, Santana Moss and Roy Helu Jr. for 118 receptions).

His total is 30 shy of Marvin Harrison's NFL record, to tie him for 17th all-time with Denver Bronco Rod Smith (2001). He is seventh on the list among active players.

Garçon was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate this season, but was passed over in the final roster changes for Arizona Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald, who had 31 fewer receptions and 392 fewer yards this season.

Last year, Redskins running back Alfred Morris and left guard Kory Lichtensteiger were selected to the All-Joe Team after the team registered the top rushing attack in the NFL. Morris was selected to his first Pro Bowl this season after rushing for 2,888 yards in his first two seasons combined.

In 2011, special teams ace Lorenzo Alexander was selected to the All-Joe Team after leading the NFL in special teams tackles with 21. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl with the Redskins in 2012, again leading the NFL in special teams tackles with 30.

Pierre Garçon looks to follow in the path of recent teammates, earning a spot in the Pro Bowl the year after his All-Joe selection.
