Defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin was among the inactive Redskins for Sunday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Griffin, one of the pillars of the Redskins' defensive line, has been slowed by a hip injury and sat out practice last week.
The Redskins also listed defensive tackle Cedric Killings as inactive for the game, signaling that the Redskins would rely on a rotation of Joe Salave'a, Ryan Boschetti and Aki Jones in the interior defensive line. Demetric Evans also shifted inside on several occasions.
Overall, the line held up well, getting solid pressure on McNabb. and stuffing the Eagles' ground attack. A week after yielding 262 rushing yards to the New York Giants in a 36-0 loss, the Redskins allowed just 45 rushing yards against the Eagles.
Meantime, linebacker LaVar Arrington started for the first time since Week 2, replacing Warrick Holdman in the lineup. When the three-time Pro Bowler went out with the starting unit in the first quarter, there was a roar of excitement from the capacity FedExField crowd.
Arrington finished the game with six tackles, tied with Phillip Daniels for the team lead.
Tight end Robert Royal was also inactive for the game. Royal had been slowed by a calf injury, but he had managed to return to practice on Friday.
With Royal sidelined, the Redskins used multiple offensive sets to make up for the loss of their starting tight end. The team signed practice squad tight end Robert Johnson on Saturday and he saw significant action in blocking schemes. H-backs Chris Cooley and Mike Sellers also lined up at tight end. They combined to catch 10 passes for 111 yards.
The Redskins declared the following players as inactive: safety Omar Stoutmire, running back Nehemiah Broughton, linebacker Khary Campbell, center Cory Raymer, Royal, Killings and Griffin.
The Redskins' third quarterback was Jason Campbell.
Rookie linebacker Robert McCune, signed from the practice squad on Saturday, was active for his first NFL game on Sunday night.
As expected, the Eagles deactivated controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, who was suspended indefinitely by the team on Saturday. With Owens out, former Redskins wide receiver Darnerien McCants was active for the first time since Week 3. Rookie Reggie Brown was expected to start in place of Owens at wide receiver.
The Eagles also listed the following players as inactive: running back Ryan Moats, cornerback Dexter Wynn, linebacker Matt McCoy, defensive tackle Keyonta Marshall, offensive linemen Calvin Armstrong and Todd Herremans and Owens.
The Eagles' third quarterback was Mike McMahon.
