After starting the first 13 games of his NFL career, Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III will be inactive for this afternoon's matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
As reported last night on Redskins.com, fellow rookie Kirk Cousins will make his first career start in place of Griffin III, after replacing him in the fourth quarter against the Baltimore Ravens.
For the Redskins, this is the first time since 1994 (Heath Shuler, Gus Frerotte) that they have started two different rookie quarterbacks in the same season.
Veteran backup Rex Grossman will be active today for the first time all season. He is the team's only active backup quarterback.
Other notable inactives include returner Brandon Banks, who is benched for a second-consecutive week by coach's decision.
Last week, tight end Niles Paul filled in at kick returner and struggled, two kicks for 18 and 19 yards.
Meanwhile, rookie cornerback Richard Crawford filled in at punt returner and averaged 33.3 yards on three returns, including a 64-yard return in overtime to set up the game-winning field goal.
