Rex Grossman and John Beck alternated at quarterback in the first three quarters of Thursday night's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Grossman started the game and played the first two series. Then Beck came in until midway through the second quarter when he was relieved by Grossman.
Beck played the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, backup Kellen Clemens came in the game.
Grossman finished 8-of-15 for 112 yards and one touchdown. Beck was 6-of-10 for 108 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Redskins' quarterback competition between Grossman and Beck has reached the home stretch of preseason.
"I thought we made some strides," head coach Mike Shanahan said after the Ravens game. "It's part of the evaluation process but overall I thought the quarterbacks did a pretty good job."
Asked about the decision to rotate the quarterbacks, Shanahan said: "It was our game plan to get a chance to see both of them against the first-team defense. We got a chance to see that.
Grossman started the Redskins' first preseason game vs. Pittsburgh, a 16-7 win at FedExField. He completed 19-of-26 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown.
Beck started the second preseason game at Indianapolis after missing the Steelers game with a groin injury. He completed 14-of-17 passes for 140 yards in guiding the offense to four first-half scores.
