Rex Grossman has been released from the hospital on Wednesday following his bout with pneumonia.

Grossman was expected to return to Redskins Park on Wednesday evening to begin preparations for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

"I heard that he's feeling a little bit better," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "He's going to come in here and take a look at some film."

Grossman was diagnosed with pneumonia prior to last Sunday's game in Carolina. He came out for warm-ups at Bank of America Stadium but stayed in the locker room during the game. tea

He was hospitalized on Monday after the team returned from Carolina.

Shanahan said the team would evaluate its options at backup quarterback should Grossman not be at full health for this Sunday's game vs. Buffalo.

"Yeah, it's always concerning when somebody has pneumonia and he has a high fever and has been in the hospital for a couple of days," Shanahan said. "But [team physician] Dr. [Anthony] Casolaro sounded very positive and he must be feeling better to come over here. Hopefully he keeps on getting better."
