On the health of LaRon Landry:"LaRon Landry is almost back, and we are not going to play him in this game. We are going to continue to rehab him, and I think the four extra days will help his recovery."
On whether the starters will play in the Hall of Fame Game:
"We are going to play some starters and I am sure Indianapolis will play some, but it will be very sparse. It is not just that we do not want to risk injury, but that we also have a lot of younger players we need to look at. The younger players are going to get a great opportunity to go out and show what they can do to earn the right to be part of this team."
On the competition between the younger wide receivers:
"They are even right now. Nobody has really separated themselves from the others, in part because Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly have been injured, so we have not been able to see them. For the other younger receivers, this is a great opportunity for them to prove to themselves and us that they are worthy of being here."
On the competition at the defensive tackle position between Anthony Montgomery, Kedric Golston, and Lorenzo Alexander:
"They have always been rotating, which is what a defensive line group does. They have been outstanding and have shown high effort. Montgomery will be coming back and will be in the mix, but they are all very quick, which makes it difficult for an offense."
On how the running backs have adjusted to the new offensive scheme:
"The run game has not been a problem because the terminology and some of the runs are still the same. Some of the aiming points have been a little different, but they have adjusted to those changes easily. What I have been impressed with is their ability to pick up the passing game. The most difficult things are the protections schemes and adjustments, and each guy has progressed well. What still remains to be seen is if they can do it in the heat of the battle in a game."
On whether Stephon Heyer is a good example for how to make an NFL team as an undrafted free agent:
"Stephon Heyer has been doing well, and what I like about his attitude is that even though he made the team last year, he has worked all offseason to improve and be a better player. He has a sense of urgency every time he steps into the huddle, and he has some leadership qualities despite being such a young player."
