Joe Gibbs Media Session

On running back T.J. Duckett and getting the deal done:

"The most important thing for us is that I thought he would really fit here from the stand point that he is a great guy and everyone likes him. He is great in the locker room. It is very hard to do something like this and this one became real complicated because it wound up being three teams. At different points I thought it was dead. Eventually it was something that did work out. We thought it was good for us because what we add is a good quality player and a good guy. We will just put him in our mix there and start working with him. We feel he has the potential to be a real good football player for us."

On where Duckett fits in on the depth chart:

"The depth chart will stay pretty much the way it is. Obviously right now there will be a lot for him to catch up on. We plan to go the way we have been going this next week. We will see how he comes along this week and see if we will be able to get him in and get some carries. I know he is anxious to get going and we are anxious to see him. What we will do it let him compete with our other guys and see where he fits in."

On Clinton Portis (RB, #26):

"Clinton for us is ahead of schedule. It had nothing to do with where Clinton is physically. Clinton is doing great for us. I just felt like it was a chance and a way for us to get a real good football player."

On if this means they are evaluating the running backs on the roster even more now:

"We know our guys and we like them. We have very good backs. It had nothing to do with them. It was us having a chance to add someone that we felt like was a real good football player. We have Clinton (Portis, RB, #26) who is one of our leaders and a guy that we feel like can do great things for us. We have Ladell (Betts, RB, #46), Rock (Cartwright, RB, #31) and Nemo (Nehemiah Broughton, RB, #30) and those guys have all worked hard."

On if T.J. Duckett will be the primary goal line back:

"Obviously he has a bunch of touchdowns and is a big back. We are real comfortable with Clinton running it down there too. What we will do is go to work and obviously it is one of his strengths."
