On the 36-30 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars:
"I told our players that I've never been in a game that meant more to me. This game is going to have a lot to say about this year because that is a really good football team. I think that Coach Del Rio has done a great job of building a real first class organization. I have respect for him."
On the Redskins:
"I'm proud of our team to get off and start the way they did this year, then come back and play a game like this. I'm really proud of our guys and couldn't be prouder. They are a unique bunch of guys."
On the fans:
"I want to say a big thanks to our fans, every single one of them, for sticking with us and being absolutely spectacular tonight. They did their part to try and help us and they did in the end."
On his emotions during the game:
"I was just praying that the team wouldn't go into overtime. It worked out. You have to give them a lot of credit. They took the ball down the field. The emotions were all over the place for all of us."
On Santana Moss (WR, #89):
"The guy couldn't be a better playmaker and I don't know who is in the NFL. Every time he gets the ball in his hands, it's a threat to have him go with it. It was a good call by Al (Saunders, associate head coach-offense). I thought we had a good series in overtime. I thought for sure he was going to be tackled but somehow he got away and scored with it. The guy is a fantastic playmaker. The best part of it is what kind of person he is. He never complains. All he wants to do is win."
On the offense playing a highly ranked defense:
"I'm really proud of our guys for sticking together. We know it's only four weeks in, but I certainly know that it shows what we're capable of."
On his decision to try for a field goal on 4th-and-1 late in the fourth quarter and the game tied:
"I really felt that you have to take a sure thing while you can. Obviously, we didn't make the third down there."
On Brunell (QB, #8) playing his former team:
"We didn't talk about it all week. I think that both quarterbacks had a lot of emotion during the game."
