Strong safety LaRon Landry was deactivated for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The good news was that linebacker Brian Orakpo was able to play despite a sore ankle.

Landry was limited in practice last week due to a lingering hamstring injury. He was listed as questionable heading into the game.

Landry was replaced in the lineup by Reed Doughty for the second game in a row.

Landry has not played since Week 10 of the 2010 season, so coaches continue to be cautious with him as he works himself into playing shape.

Prior to the Cardinals game, defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said he had confidence that the safeties would continue to step up.

"Reed and Oshiomogho [Atogwe] will execute the scheme," Haslett said. "Reed had 10 tackles last week [in the Redskins' win over the New York Giants] and he was outstanding against the run. We won't change anything with the guys we have in."

Orakpo was also listed as questionable for the game after practicing on a limited basis all week. He has missed just one game in his career.

The Redskins' complete list of inactives was as follows: wide receivers Terrence Austin and Leonard Hankerson, Landry, linebackers Keyaron Fox and Markus White, offensive lineman Willie Smith and defensive lineman Darrion Scott.
