Head coach Joe Gibbs met with wide receiver Brandon Lloyd this week and the two discussed Lloyd's on-field actions and his ability to control his emotions during games.
Gibbs said that Lloyd was "definitely playing" this Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"It went well," Gibbs said of the meeting. "Things happen from time to time. Brandon has a good attitude about it. We sat down, talked and laid out a plan. I think we both feel good about it.
"Brandon is a young guy who means a lot to the Redskins. There will be things that come up all the time, and it's important to work through them. I think he is in good spirits about it."
In last Sunday's game against Atlanta, Lloyd cost the Redskins when he tossed his helmet on the sidelines after an interception late in the game. The Redskins lost to the Falcons 24-14.
Lloyd was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, a 15-yard infraction. Earlier this week, Gibbs was non-committal when asked if Lloyd would play in the Eagles game. His playing status appears resolved now.
"I'm not going to get into the details [of the meeting]," Lloyd said on Wednesday. "It was just about the things you should do and shouldn't do on the field. It had to be addressed.
"We see eye to eye, we're on the same page and I'm playing on Sunday. It's just one of those things that happened. You learn from it and move on."
Lloyd said he did not regret the incident.
"It happened--you have to own up to it and move on," he said.
Lloyd added: "My intentions are good. I didn't mean anything derogatory by it. I wasn't putting myself before the team. That was a culmination of everything--the realization that we probably won't be in the playoffs. It was everything."
Asked if Gibbs wants him to change his personality, Lloyd replied: "Not at all. Not at all. I just need to control my emotions on the football field, rather than throwing a helmet. It sends bad signals to the quarterback and bad signals to the players."
Lloyd has struggled to make an impact in the Redskins' offense this season. In 12 starts this season, he has 20 catches for 295 yards and no touchdowns.
