Although he may be adjusting to life after football, former Washington Redskins inside linebacker London Fletcher still keeps close tabs on the movement in D.C. this offseason.

The first of many dominoes to fall was head coach Jay Gruden's decision to retain Jim Haslett as the team's defensive coordinator.

After working with Haslett for the last four years, Fletcher endorsed the move, in an exlusive interview with Redskins.com.

"I think it's good for him. I know as far as continuity goes, guys will be happy with that part of it," he said. "It won't be a major learning curve for the guys who are returning."

Fletcher, who has still yet to finalize his retirement, will technically become a free agent when the league years turns over in March.

For what it's worth, Fletcher still talks like he is part of the team.

"We have to draft some players, bring in some more players free agency-wise and hopefully improve and play better defense," he said. "That was really something we didn't do well last year.

"We didn't play good enough defense as a team."

For now, the Iron Man said the offseason seems average, and that the lack of a return won't settle in until much later.

"Right now, nothing's really any different because my routine is the same as any other offseason," he explained. "It will be different for me when it comes time for like March, April, May.

"That's the time when I would normally be doing the training and preparing myself for offseason workouts, training camp and all those things getting prepared for the upcoming season.

"Right now is not a huge difference in anything I can tell as far as a change in my life, but it's good to know that I won't have to go through those things."
