Safety Andre Lott suffered a hairline tibia fracture during mini-camp last weekend, an MRI has revealed. He is expected to be on crutches the next four weeks and should be ready for training camp, team officials said.
Lott, a fourth-year pro out of Tennessee, is coming off of an injury-plagued 2004 season. He played in just four games with three starts. Early in the season, he was inactive for three games due to a hamstring injury. Then he suffered a left pectoral tear in the Week 8 game against Green Bay and was sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Lott is getting married this weekend. Team doctors said he would be fine to walk his bride-to-be down the aisle without the crutches.
The Redskins currently have six safeties on the roster, including the recently signed Tony Dixon, formerly with the Dallas Cowboys. Dixon was among several players working out at Redskins Park on Tuesday.
Sean Taylor was excused from last weekend's mini-camp as he resolves a legal matter in Miami. Matt Bowen, Ryan Clark and Pierson Prioleau round out the defensive backs listed at safety.
