Redskins great Dexter Manley was honored prior to Sunday's Redskins-Cowboys game at FedExField. Manley led the Redskins fans with a chant of "We Want Dallas!" prior to the introduction of players.

The celebration was part of the franchise's 75th anniversary.

After his introduction, Manley walked over to the sideline and hugged Joe Bugel and Joe Gibbs, wishing them well in the Cowboys game.

Manley was a fiery, emotional defensive end for the Redskins from 1981-89. He joined the Redskins as a fifth-round draft in 1981.

Manley ended his career as the franchise's all-time sacks leader with 97.5. From 1983-86, he averaged 14.6 sacks per season, including a franchise record 18.5 sacks in 1986. He was named to the Pro Bowl that season.

The NFL began recognizing sacks in 1982 and there have been 17 occasions during which a Redskin has reached double digits in sacks. Manley and Charles Mann, teammates through the 1980s, both did it four times.

Manley is tied with the Diron Talbert and Phillip Daniels with the most sacks in a single game, with four.

Manley has said that his most memorable moment as a Redskin was beating the Dallas Cowboys in the 1983 NFC Championship game.

His signature moment as a Redskin came when he leveled Cowboys quarterback Danny White, knocking him out of the game. Later, Manley batted a Gary Hogeboom pass to Darryl Grant, who pulled in the interception and high-stepped into the end for a game-clinching touchdown in a 31-17 victory.

Last year, Manley, 48, underwent surgery to remove a cyst in his brain. He recovered from that surgery and is now a frequent guest on Redskins Radio shows.

The Redskins have honored one of the team's legends prior to each home game this season.
