Nicknamed "Murph"… Co-captain of Super Bowl XVII champions… Pro Bowl selection in 1982 and 1983… Named to the Redskins' 50th Anniversary Team… Most memorable moments with the Redskins were winning the Super Bowl in Pasadena against the Dolphins and celebrating afterwards with his father… Also recalls the NFC title game victory over the Cowboys, when "RFK Stadium was literally shaking."
Gained inspiration from college coach at Colgate, Fred Dunlop, who continued as his mentor after football… Most proud of winning a Super Bowl and his ongoing work at Colgate University, competing in division one athletics with no scholarships. Thinks of "tradition, excellence and the best fans" when mentioning the Redskins… Most admired teammate was Ken Houston for "the way he carried himself and treated people." After retiring from the NFL, pursued a law degree and served as assistant executive director of the NFL Players Association… Also worked for the U.S. Justice Department in Washington, D.C.… Also worked as director of athletics at Colgate University. |
