Head Coach Mike Shanahan recorded his 171st overall victory as an NFL head coach, pushing him past Paul Brown and tying him with Redskins legend Joe Gibbs for 12th all-time in NFL history. * The win was Shanahan's 163rd regular season victory as an NFL head coach. * The Redskins rushed for 207 yards, marking the third time this season the Redskins have rushed for 200 or more yards in a game, the most in the NFL. * The Redskins now have 2,006 rushing yards on the season, marking the 21st time in team history that the Redskins have rushed for 2,000 yards in a season. Washington leads the league in rushing. * Running back Alfred Morris rushed for a career-high 124 yards on 22 carries, his fifth 100-yard rushing effort this season. Morris' five 100-yard rushing games are the most by a Redskins rookie in a single season since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger and are the most by a Redskin of any experience level since Clinton Portis had six 100-yard rushing games in 2008. * Morris now has 1,106 rushing yards this season, tied with Tampa Bay's Doug Martin for most by a rookie this season. * With a 19-yard run in the first quarter, Morris eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the season and became the first 1,000-yard rusher for the Redskins since Clinton Portis in 2008. It represents the 23rd 1,000-yard rushing season by a Redskins player in team history and only the second by a rookie. * Morrisbroke the Redskins' record for rushing yards by a rookie with a 16-yard gain in the third quarter that pushed him past Reggie Brooks' former rookie record of 1,063 rushing yards for the Redskins during the 1993 season. * The Redskins became the first team in NFL history to have a rookie with 2,000 passing yards (Robert Griffin III) and a rookie with 1,000 rushing yards (Morris). * **
Griffin IIIcompleted 13-of-21 passes for 163 yards with one touchdown. In four games against NFC East opponents, Griffin III has completed 66-of-91 passes (72.5 percent) for 925 yards with 11 touchdowns and two interceptions for a passer rating of 135.3. His passer rating against divisional opponents is the highest among all NFL players with at least five attempts per game this season. * *Griffin III *helped the Redskins overcome a six-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Griffin III became the first rookie quarterback for the Redskins to engineer a fourth-quarter comeback when trailing after three quarters since Harry Theofiledes on Dec. 15, 1968 vs. Detroit. * *Griffin III *rushed for 72 yards on five carries. Griffin III now has 714 rushing yards this season, setting an NFL record for rushing yards by a rookie quarterback, a record formerly held by Carolina's Cam Newton (706 in 2011). * The Redskins now has five games this season with at least 175 rushing yards, the team's most since posting five 175-yard rushing games in 1987. * The game was Washington's 11th this season with at least 125 rushing yards. No other NFL team has more than eight. * The Redskins scored their first points on a fumble recovery by wide receiverJoshua Morgan**, advancing a fumble 13 yards after Griffin III had gained 12 yards on the ground. The fumble recovery touchdown was the first of Morgan's career and was the second fumble recovery touchdown by a Redskins receiver this season (Pierre Garçon in Week 4 at Tampa Bay). *
The touchdown was Morgan's first of any kind as a Redskin. * With the touchdown by Morgan, the Redskins now have 58 first-quarter points through 12 games this season. The Redskins had 43 first-quarter points during the entire 2011 season. * Tight end Niles Paul returned a kickoff 39 yards in the second quarter, a career long. It was his first return since returning one kickoff for 17 yards in the team's last meeting with the Giants in Week 7. * Kicker Kai Forbath converted a 33-yard field goal in the second quarter to improve to 11-for-11 in his career, extending his team record for consecutive field goals made by a Redskins kicker to open a career. * With the field goal, Washington has now scored 115 second-quarter points this season, the most the Redskins have scored in any quarter in a season since scoring 117 points in the second quarter of games during the 2007 season. * Forbath's field goal came with 46 seconds remaining in the second quarter, giving Washington 16 points in the final two minutes of halves this season. Washington had 13 points in such situations last season. * Wide receiver Pierre Garçon finished with a season-high eight receptions for 106 receiving yards with one touchdown. Griffin III had a 46-yard run in the third quarter, the longest run by Griffin III since his 76-yard touchdown run vs. Minnesota in Week 6. * *Griffin III *connected withGarçon** for an eight-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. The passing touchdown was Griffin III's 17th of the season, extending his team rookie record. *
The receiving touchdown was Garçon's third of the season and second in as many weeks. Including a touchdown at Dallas last week, Garçon now has receiving touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 4-5 of the 2011 season as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. * Linebacker Rob Jackson registered a sack of Eli Manning in the fourth quarter, giving Jackson 2.5 sacks on the season, expanding on his career high. * Linebacker London Fletcher appeared in his 236th consecutive game, tied for the longest active streak in the NFL. It was his 195th consecutive start, the most of any active linebacker. * The Redskins extended their consecutive home sellout streak to an NFL-high 374, including postseason games. The team has sold out all 156 preseason, regular season and postseason games at FedExField. * The Redskins are now 3-1 in NFC East play and 6-4 against NFC opponents this season. * The win brought Washington's home record this season to 3-3. * The victory was the Redskins' first win on Monday Night Football since defeating Philadelphia, 20-12, on Sept. 17, 2007.
