In Sunday's game against the Falcons, Redskins rookie running back Alfred Morris had his best rushing performance as a professional, tallying 135 yards, including 115 on the ground.

Even though Morris was proud of his results, he refused to find solace in a loss.

"I really don't care for individual accolades," he reasoned.  "We didn't win today, so nothing that I did really matters."

Morris expressed disappointment in his unit's inability to convert key third downs today.

On the other hand, Morris was proud of his teammates' willingness to rally around Cousins after Griffin III was knocked out of the game.

"Things happen in this league, you always have to be careful," Morris said.  "I've got confidence in Cousins as well, despite what happened in this game. 

"I applaud him for coming in toward the end of the game and doing what he did.  That's kind of tough for some guys, but I applaud him for it."

When Cousins entered his first huddle with two minutes remaining in the third quarter, the entire offense had encouraging words for him.

"We just said, 'let's put it together,'" Morris recalled.  "'Let's get a drive going and get something started.  Drive down the field and score.'  Same thing we'd do with Robert [Griffin III] coming in.  We've got confidence in [Cousins] as well."

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan praised the leadership and performance of his starting running back, labeling him the fabled "every-down running back."

"He's got all the things you look for in a running back," Shanahan said. "He's tough, he's hard-nosed.  He's a first-, second-, third-down back and doesn't seem to get tired. 

"He'll make the first person miss and just keeps on getting better and better.  I like what we have [in Morris]."

The Redskins are now 2-3 and sit in fourth place in the NFC East.  Despite the difficult schedule ahead, Morris expressed confidence in his team's ability to regroup.

"We've got work to do.  There's always room for improvement," he said.  "We had the weapons; we had what it takes to be something great.  After this loss, we just have to get back to the drawing board.

"It's a long season, so just continuing to just work hard see what happens. Get back to working hard and probably rearrange some things."
