Albert Haynesworth suffered a right hip injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game in Detroit, but he was able to return to the game in the second half.

Haynesworth, the Redskins' 6-6, 350-pound defensive tackle, suffered the injury midway through the second quarter.

With the Lions facing a 3rd-and-5 at the Redskins' 14-yard line, Haynesworth appeared to break off a block and pressure quarterback Matthew Stafford as he scrambled out of the pocket.

Haynesworth was able to pull down Stafford for a sack, his first of the season.

He was unable to get up, though. Athletic trainers rushed onto the field and treated him for several minutes. He was eventually carted off the field.

Haynesworth was initially listed as questionable to return to the game, but he emerged from the tunnel and was back on the field midway through the third quarter.

Haynesworth was an active presence in the game despite double teams by the Lions' interior offensive line. He posted two tackles in the game.

When Haynesworth was out of the game, the Redskins used a defensive tackle rotation.

Cornelius Griffin and Kedric Golston took the bulk of reps, with Lorenzo Alexander and Phillip Daniels seeing action at defensive tackle as well. The Redskins deactivated Anthony Montgomery and Renaldo Wynn prior to the game.

Several Redskins starters suffered injuries in the Lions game, but they were all able to return to the game.

Carlos Rogers suffered a sprained ankle after yielding a 21-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Bryant Johnson in the first quarter.

Rogers returned to the game but was also on the sidelines during some key moments in the second half.

London Fletcher missed a couple series in the second half after suffering a rib contusion.

Also, Mike Sellers suffered a thigh injury in the second half.

-- PORTIS ACTIVE, SO IS ALRIDGE

As expected, Clinton Portis was among the active players for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.

Interestingly enough, so was Anthony Alridge.

Portis had been listed as questionable for Sunday's game due to sore ankles. He was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and did not participate in Friday's session.

Portis finished the game with 12 rushes for 42 yards. He was stopped short of the goal line on a critical 4th-and-1 play in the first quarter.

Zorn decided to keep Alridge active over Marcus Mason. Alridge signed with the Redskins last Tuesday, taking the roster spot of injured guard Randy Thomas.

Alridge, active for his first NFL game, provides a measure of speed and cut-back ability to the Redskins' ground game.

As it turned out, Alridge did not see action in the game.

The Redskins' complete list of inactive players was as follows: Mason, Kevin Barnes, Edwin Williams, Robert Henson, D'Anthony Batiste, Marko Mitchell, Anthony Montgomery and Renaldo Wynn.

For the third week in a row, the Redskins activated just seven offensive linemen. Will Montgomery and Mike Williams were the only available backups.

Montgomery ended up replacing Chad Rinehart for a couple series in the second half.
