Wide receiver Santana Moss sat out practice for the third consecutive day on Friday and he was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Moss has been slowed by a hamstring injury in recent weeks.
Head coach Joe Gibbs said Moss's availability would likely be a game time decision.
"There's some slight hope and we'll hold out and see how he feels on game day, but we'll have to make a decision on that at the last second," Gibbs said.
Moss sat out the Redskins' Week 9 game against Dallas, but returned last week against Philadelphia. He caught three passes for 17 yards, but admitted after the game he wasn't able to play at full speed.
"I didn't make [the hamstring injury] worse, but it's just not getting better, so why should I keep doing something to it?" Moss said on Friday. "I have to make sure that I can be myself. Last week I wasn't myself and I don't want to be out there if I can't do that."
If Moss cannot play against the Bucs on Sunday, then Brandon Lloyd and Antwaan Randle El would likely start against the Buccaneers, with James Thrash coming in as the third wide receiver.
Wide receiver David Patten was added to the team's injury report on Friday. He is listed as questionable with a sore hamstring. Patten has missed the last four games due to the injury.
The absence of Moss and running back Clinton Portis, who was placed on injured reserve this week, means that quarterback Jason Campbell will make his first NFL start without two of the team's top offensive playmakers.
"We have other players who can step up and help him," Gibbs said. "We've given him a tough situation to be in, but I know he's excited."
Meantime, it has been decided that tight end Christian Fauria will not play in Sunday's game. Fauria has missed practice this week due to an ankle injury.

The Redskins have several ties to former University of Michigan head coach Bo Schembechler, who passed away on Friday.
Schembechler's son, Shemy, is a Midwest area scout for the Redskins.
Said Joe Gibbs: "I've coached against him and he's been here a couple times to visit. I thought a lot about him as a person and the football world will miss him."
Redskins' right tackle and Michigan alum Jon Jansen called it a "tremendous loss for the Schembechler family and for Michigan football."
"He was always around the building and obviously they named Schembechler Hall after him--that's where we practiced," Jansen said. "He took Michigan football. We had a great tradition and he really elevated it and brought it to what it is today."

On Friday, Joe Gibbs was asked what advice he gave to Jason Campbell as he prepares to make his NFL debut on Sunday.
"He has to be himself," Gibbs said. "He's been getting ready for this since he was 6 years old. Up here, you don't play quarterback unless you've done it for 20-25 years. He's been getting ready this and it's his time. Hopefully everyone will support him and we will just go to work to help him the best we can coaching and playing."
