News & Notes: Moss Starts; Patten Inactive

Santana Moss returned to action on Sunday in the Redskins' 27-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Slowed by a hamstring injury in recent weeks, Moss did not make a huge impact, catching only three passes for 17 yards.

After the game, Moss said he was not able to play at full speed due to the injury.

"I could not be myself completely, but oh well," he said. "I went out there and fought as hard as I could to help our team win. I made it through practice last week and through warm-ups, but I had it in the back of my mind on when my leg would get tired.

"When it gets tired, it is hard to get a push when I am out there. I have to get back and really work to get my strength back."

Even Philadelphia's defensive backs noticed that Moss was hampered by the injury.

"I don't think he was at full speed," Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard said.

Moss had been listed as probable heading into the game. He missed last Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys due to the hamstring injury.

Meantime, wide receiver David Patten did not suit up. Patten also has been slowed by a hamstring injury. He has missed three consecutive games.

The Redskins had entered Sunday's game in relatively good health.

The Redskins' complete list of inactive players was as follows: cornerback Mike Rumph, safety Reed Doughty, offensive linemen Jim Molinaro and Taylor Whitley, Patten and defensive tackles Ryan Boschetti and Anthony Montgomery.

#### -- GIBBS CONSIDERED COLLINS

With nine minutes left in Sunday's game against Philadelphia, the Eagles took over possession and ran out the clock.

If the Redskins had gotten the ball back, however, Joe Gibbs may have inserted Todd Collins into the game at quarterback.

"I talked about doing that with about nine minutes to go, just because it had been a tough day for Mark," Gibbs said. "The way it worked out, it was a moot point."

Brunell finished the day completed 16-of-31 passes for 132 yards and one interception.
