For the fourth consecutive week, a Washington Redskins player has earned NFC Player of the Week honors from the league.
This week, the honor goes to Mike Sellers, named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance on special teams in the Redskins 31-20 win over Philadelphia.
Sellers, a sixth-year pro out of Walla Walla Community College, helped the Redskins secure the sixth seed on the NFC side of the playoffs with one special teams tackle and one critical fumble recovery against the Eagles.
With the Redskins trailing the Eagles 3-0, early in the first quarter, Eagles return man Dexter Wynn mishandled a Derek Frost punt after the ball caromed high off his chest. Sellers alertly pounced on the ball at the Philadelphia 37-yard line.
Five plays later, Mark Brunell tossed a four-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Sellers to give the Redskins a 7-3 lead.
To complement his team-high 30 special teams tackles this season, Sellers finished the regular season with seven touchdowns on just 12 receptions--an astounding 58.33 percent touchdown percentage.
Kick return specialist Antonio Brown (special teams, at Arizona), defensive end Phillip Daniels (defense, vs. Dallas) and wide receivcer Santana Moss (offense, vs. N.Y. Giants) also have won the NFC Player of the Week award in the last four weeks.

Despite a strained groin injury, cornerback Shawn Springs has not been ruled out of Saturday's Wild Card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, team officials said on Tuesday.
Trainers and team doctors reviewed Springs' MRI on Tuesday and found no tear or sports hernia evident.
Springs' status, as of Tuesday afternoon, was day to day. The team will release an official injury report on Wednesday afternoon, and at that time, Springs' official status for the game will be known.
Springs will continue to undergo treatment for the injury in the next couple of days and the team will evaluate his status on a day-by-day basis.
Springs re-aggravated the injury during last Sunday's 31-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
