On today's edition of NFC East Intel we look at the Kiko Alonso's status for the Eagles, the Giants' giving Chris Cooley a tryout and the Cowboys' loss to the Falcons.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
Headline:Kiko Alonso Could Need Surgery On Partially Torn ACL
Acquired in the player-for-player trade that included LeSean McCoy in the offseason, Alonso had recorded seven tackles and an interception in the first two games of the season in his return from an ACL injury that wiped out his entire 2014 season. Now he's getting a second-option on possible surgery.
What this means for the Redskins:Alonso suffered the injury on his left knee, the same knee that was torn before the start of the 2014 season. He was on the sideline during the Eagles' 24-17 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, but spent Monday in Florida to get a second-opinion on what to do next.
Alonso suffered the injury in a Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Alonso, an Oregon product, was acquired by his former college head coach Chip Kelly during the offseason. As a second-round pick in 2013, Alonso recorded a Buffalo-high 159 tackles along with four interceptions, four passes defensed and two sacks.
According to NJ.com, his ACL injury is somewhere between a Grade 2 sprain, a partial tear of the ligament, and a Grade 3 sprain, which means the ligament has been split in two.

Parkey played in yesterday's Eagles-Jets game, but suffered a groin injury prior to kickoff that is severe enough that it’ll now sideline him for the season.
What this means for the Redskins:Parkey's NFL career got off to a strong start last season, as the undrafted rookie out of Auburn converted 18 of his first 19 career attempts last season including a game-winner against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football.
Despite his poor performance in a Redskins' 27-24 victory in Week 16 in which he missed two of his three attempts, Parkey made the Pro Bowl after setting an NFL rookie scoring record with 150 points.
He was 3-of-4 to start this season with his miss – a 44-yard attempt – a costly one in a Falcons 26-24 victory in Week 1.
Sturgis spent his first two NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins, where he converted 55-of-71 field goal attempts with a long of 54 yards. He was released by the Dolphins before the start of the season in favor of Andrew Franks.
The Eagles also reportedly worked out former Redskins kickers Kai Forbath, Billy Cundiff and Nick Novak among others.
NEW YORK GIANTS
Headline:Former Redskins Tight End Chris Cooley Getting A Tryout On Tuesday
The longtime Redskins tight end who last made a regular season appearance during the 2012 season has a tryout with the Giants according to ESPN980.
What this means for the Redskins:During the offseason months Cooley, a two-time Pro Bowler, quietly got himself back into football shape with the hopes of an NFL comeback at the age of 33.
He reportedly had talks with the Arizona Cardinals before the start of training camp, but the organization decided to look elsewhere for veteran depth at the position.
In nine seasons with the Redskins, Cooley, who quickly became a fan favorite in Washington, D.C., recorded 429 receptions for 4,711 yards and 33 touchdowns.
While he appeared in games during the 2012 and 2011 seasons, his last truly effective season from a pass-catching standpoint came in 2010 when he recorded 77 reception for 849 yards and three touchdowns.
The Giants currently have three tight ends on their active roster and one on their practice squad, but they may be looking for more consistency from the position.
Cooley, of course, has been working for ESPN980 over the last few years hosting "The Drive With Cooley And Czabe" along with calling the games.

After missing the second half of the 2014 season with a ruptured patella tendon and then the first three games of this season with a calf injury, the speedy wide receiver thinks he'll make his long-awaited debut this Sunday per YahooSports.com.
What this means for the Redskins:It's been awhile seen Cruz has played in an NFL game, but now healthy following two leg injuries, the 2012 Pro Bowler thinks Sunday against the Buffalo Bills will mark his return.
Cruz suffered season-ending patella tendon injury in the sixth game of the season last year, just two games into the Giants' revamped wide receiver corps pairing along with Odell Beckham Jr.
For his career, the University of Massachusetts product has amassed nearly 4,000 receiving yards in 55 career games. He burst onto the scene in 2011 when he recorded 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns in his first full NFL season.
DALLAS COWBOYS
Headline:Cowboys Squander Early Lead To Falcons To Suffer First Loss Of The Season
Up 14-0 after the first quarter and 28-17 at halftime, the Cowboys struggled to contain the Falcons' offense and did not record a single point in the second half, falling to Atlanta by a final of 39-28.
What this means for the Redskins: Early on it looked as if the injury to Tony Romo wouldn't affect the offense one bit, as Joseph Randle had 85 yards on his first three carries and three first half touchdowns. Brandon Weeden, meanwhile, making his first start of the season, started the game by completing his first nine passes.
But between offensive miscues and Julio Jones once again proving to be one of the best wide receivers in the league right now with 12 catches for 164 yards and two touchdowns, Dallas gave up 22 second-half points.
Falcons running back Devonta Freeman also sliced up the Cowboys' defense for 141 yards and three touchdowns.
In total, Dallas surrendered more than 430 total yards.
