Another day, another award for Clinton Portis.

Fans have voted Portis as this week's winner of the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week award for his performance in last Sunday's 25-17 win over the Detroit Lions.

It is the second consecutive week that Portis has won the award and third time this season.

Earlier this week, Portis was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.

Against Detroit, Portis logged 24 carries for 126 yards--an impressive 5.3 yards-per-carry average--in leading the Redskins to a win at Ford Field. He also caught one pass for six yards.

Portis reeled off several long runs--including 17 and 31 yards--and the Redskins dominated time of possession by a nearly 10 minute margin.

His 31-yard run late in the fourth quarter helped set up a key field goal that gave the Redskins an eight-point lead.

It was Portis's fifth consecutive 100-yard effort of the season. He tied a franchise record for most consecutive 100-yard rushing games--the mark is shared by Rob Goode (1951), Portis (2005) and Ladell Betts (2006).

Portis beat out Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook and Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams for the FedEx Ground honor.

Along with Portis's award, FedEx makes a $1,000 donation in the winning players' names to the local Safe Kids USA coalitions in Washington D.C. to support pedestrian safety efforts. Safe Kids USA is a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children.

This season, FedEx plans to surpass the $1 million mark in terms of charity donations they have made to deliver safe kids through the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Player of the Week Awards program.
