The Washington Redskins on Sunday hosted the Philadelphia Eagles at FedExField for a Week 6 NFC East matchup. The Redskins were able to defeat the Eagles by a final of 27-20.

Fourth Quarter: Redskins 27, Eagles, 20Extending their drive that started in the third quarter, the Eagles were able to cut the Redskins' lead down to seven with a 38-yard Caleb Sturgis field goal.

The drive received a big boost when Carson Wentz and Jordan Matthews connected for a 54-yard gain on 3rd-and-14. The ball was placed perfectly into the hands of Matthews, who was being covered by Redskins rookie running back Kendall Fuller.

After Chris Thompson's kickoff return extended out only to the 10-yard line, Matt Jones got the drive off on the right foot with a 13-yard gain on first down before Kirk Cousins found Vernon Davis for a 37-yard gain on a wheel route.

Thompson would gain six yards on the play following Davis' big gain, followed by a defensive offside call that gave Washington a new set of downs.

The drive would stall out at Philadelphia's 32-yard line, though, as the Redskins brought out Dustin Hopkins for a 50-yard field goal, which he would convert.

Philadelphia would kick their second field goal of the quarter with less than six minutes left in the game, capping off a drive in which the Eagles had the ball for eight plays and drove 69 yards.

Washington would start their ensuing drive on their own 24-yard line, but were forced into their second three-and-out of the game.

Tress Way's punt would go 58 yards before Darren Sproles returned it to Philadelphia's 31-yard line.

On first down, Wentz dropped back trying to find Dorial Green-Beckham for a first down, but Redskins linebacker Will Compton jarred the ball free. Compton, however, would be injured on the play, replaced on the field by Martrell Spaight.

Philadelphia would drive into Washington territory just before the two-minute warning, by on 2nd-and-6, Ricky Jean Francois would takedown Wentz for a nine-yard loss.

The Redskins would get a sack on their next play as well, as Preston Smith and Trent Murphy joined forces to bring Wentz to the ground.

Getting the ball back, Jones iced the game with a 58-run on the final play of the game.

Third Quarter: Redskins 24, Eagles, 14After deferring the opening kick, the Redskins were the first team to get possession in the second half and extended their lead to 10 points.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins would hit Pierre Garçon (22 yards) and Chris Thompson (11 yards) for first down gains – complemented by strong running from the backs – early in the drive before tacking on three points.

The Redskins also benefitted from a facemask play on a two-yard gain from Garçon, getting the ball into the red zone before having to settle for a Dustin Hopkins field goal, his first of the day.

Finally getting the ball back after having it for only a little more than 10 minutes, the Eagles were plagued by penalties and the Redskins' pressure on their rookie quarter, as Ryan Kerrigan nearly registered his third sack of the game while a 38-yard gain to Dorial Green-Beckham was called off from an illegal block in the back penalty.

After getting the ball back at their own 15-yard line, the Redskins started their second drive of the third quarter with a 20-yard gainer to Garçon before Thompson picked up 13 yards on a 2nd-and-15 play, but Washington was unable to move the chains on 3rd-and-2, as Cousins rolled out of the pocket, but nothing was open downfield for the quarterback.

Just before the end of the quarter, the Eagles gained 15 yards on three plays.

Second Quarter: Redskins 21, Eagles, 14Coming out of the break, the Eagles continued their drive from the first quarter, but it only lasted for three plays, as Ryan Kerrigan notched his second sack of the game on 2nd-and-3 from the 46-yard line to set the Eagles back into a third down situation they could not convert.

Getting the ball back at their own 10-yard line, it was the running game that set up the Redskins' second scoring drive of the afternoon, as rookie running back Robert Kelley ran for a 45-yard gain on 1st-and-10 from the 22-yard line, before following it up with a five-yard run.

Chris Thompson would then have his number called, gaining 10 yards.

On 3rd-and-5 from the 13-yard line, Cousins would tally his second touchdown pass of the game, hitting Vernon Davis for his first touchdown as a member of the Redskins.

The Eagles quickly responded, though, as Wendell Smallwood scored an 86-yard kickoff return touchdown.

As the Redskins got the ball back, it looked as if they could extend the lead again, as Cousins was able to find Jamison Crowder and Chris Thompson for completions through the air, but on 1st-and-10 from Philadelphia's 38-yard line, Cousins was intercepted by Malcolm Jenkins, who returned it for a touchdown.

Getting the ball back again, the Redskins were able to go 73 yards on 13 plays for the go-ahead touchdown before the half.

On the drive, the Redskins utilized Matt Jones to get the ball into Eagles territory, as he gained 32 yards on his first three carries of the drive before Kelley picked up six. Chris Thompson would then gain five yards after the two-minute warning.

Cousins appeared to lock in for a deep touchdown bomb to Jackson, but the wide receiver dropped the ball. The Redskins would go back to the air on the next play, though, as the quarterback hit Pierre Garçon for a 13-yard gain. Cousins would go back to Garçon – who picked up 15 yards – before the Redskins would eventually score a touchdown, a one-yard Jones run.

First Quarter: Redskins 7, Eagles, 0While the Redskins won the opening coin toss, they elected to defer until the second half, giving the defense an opportunity to start out the game on the field.

The Redskins started out the game with a sack, as safety Will Blackmon – who was up at the line of scrimmage – took down rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. The Eagles were called for holding on the play, as Ryan Kerrigan was being held throughout the play, but Washington declined the call.

The Eagles would then gain some traction on the ground on second and third downs to get a new set, but Washington quickly get the offense off the field just three plays later. On 2nd-and-12, Kerrigan notched his first sack of the game before Philadelphia punted.

Getting the ball at their own 21-yard line, Washington first moved the chains on 3rd-and-9 from the 22-yard line, hitting DeSean Jackson for a 10-yard gain.

On the next play, Kirk Cousins targeted Jackson again deep, but thanks to a holding penalty on rookie cornerback Jalen Mills, the Redskins immediately got a new set of downs.

Washington's first drive, however, stalled out at their own 45-yard line before Tress Way punted a ball well into the end zone on his inaugural appearance in the game.

Philadelphia couldn't do anything on their second drive of the game, though, as the defense forced a three-and-out. The Redskins have been getting a lot of pressure on Wentz, as both of his throws on the drive were with players right in his face.

Washington's offense, however, also struggled to move the ball, as they were on the field for just three plays as well. Set back by a holding call on Morgan Moses, Cousins would connect with Jamison Crowder for a 15-yard gain on a screen play, but it was short of the first-down marker.

Philadelphia's next drive would last five plays before Washington got the ball back and had its biggest play of the game so far, landing a 35-yard gain from Cousins to Jackson. Into Philadelphia territory for the first time in the afternoon, Matt Jones would follow up the play with 15-yard gain before Cousins placed a perfect ball into Jamison Crowder's hands for a 16-yard touchdown.

Philadelphia would gain 14 yards on their next two plays before the end of the quarter.
