The Redskins hope to show that they have learned from last year's playoff loss when they face the packers again on Sunday.
A season ago, the Redskins were bounced from the first round of the playoffs for a second time in the past four years.
Building off last year's last success at 5-3-1 through 10 weeks of the sezson and right in the midst of the playoff race, the team is ready to show the Packers, who they lost to 35-18 in the Wild Card Round on Jan 10., 2016, that they haven't forgotten about the loss.
But after blowing an early 11-0 lead in January's playoff contest, the Redskins are eager to step on the field against the one of the league's most consistent franchises.
The Redskins held an 18-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers led Green Bay to 18 straight points and a convincing victory.
"I showed the guys a play today – with five minutes left in the third quarter, they went for it on fourth-and-one at midfield and got it," Barry said. "I told the guys that up until that point, at that point we were winning 17-18 with five minutes left. What I was trying to get the point across to the guys is anytime in the National Football League – obviously in playoff football – but anytime you have got to play 60 minutes, you have got to play every snap."
"You have got to be perfect and on your A-game every snap, because, obviously, the other team is trying to do that," Barry continued.
Stopping Aaron Rodgers will be the first key for the Redskins in order to leave FedExField with a victory on Sunday night.
"We're facing definitely a cerebral assassin in that guy over there," cornerback Josh Norman said. "I know how he works, so looking forward to it. Always got to be on our P's and Q's when you face an elite like that. Looking forward to the challenge."
Usually, teams have to wait a long time to avenge a playoff loss. For the Redskins, they get a second chance at Green Bay less than a year later.
"It's always good to get another crack at a team that put you out of the playoffs," wide receiver DeSean Jackson said. "Even though it's a new year, new team, new guys here, we all still look forward to go out there and get our opportunity to play against them this year and hopefully erase the game we lost to them last year. Hopefully we can beat them at our home this year because they got us last year. It'll be exciting, Sunday night, everybody will be ready."
Despite the hype of Sunday night's clash being a "revenge game," the Redskins just want it to be another week of going 1-0.
"I don't care for the revenge," defensive end Ricky Jean Francois said. "I just care for trying to get the win and trying to go out there and execute against another team. Hopefully we don't have a nail-biting game, but it might be one, it might not. Just know when you've got Aaron Rodgers coming in your building, just get ready to play a ballgame – a four-quarter ballgame."
