With the Chicago Bears' victory over the Detroit Lions in the 1 p.m. game this afternoon, the Redskins now need to win Sunday for the NFC East title, in order to make the playoffs.
This must-win scenario is standard operating procedure for the Redskins, winners of six-straight to make it to the doorstep of the playoffs.
"We're comfortable like this," said nose tackle Barry Cofield on the Redskins' must-win scenario. "The leadership has been great, and a lot of the young guys—who would normally hit a rookie wall—they've busted right through it if there was one.
"It's a group effort. Guys are on the same page, fighting toward one common goal. Special things can happen, and I think that's what we're seeing."
The Redskins won the first Cowboys matchup this season with a 38-point offensive explosion. Griffin III passed for 311 yards and four touchdowns, one each to Pierre Garçon, Aldrick Robinson, Niles Paul and Santana Moss.
"We've been playing great for each other and are just feeding off each other," Morgan said. "I've just been playing with a chip on my shoulder. We've all got tunnel vision.
"When everybody is doubting you and your back is against the wall, you just come out fighting every time."
Morgan has played a key role in the last three games, catching nine passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns.
He leads the team in receptions this season (48) is one of four Redskins receivers to eclipse 500 receiving yards on the season.
"It's definitely going to be epic," Morgan said of tonight's game. "The Cowboys, of course, are our rival. It's always going to be a close game. It's just going to be a dogfight.
"The rumble in the jungle."
On the defensive side of the ball, the Redskins need to limit Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo, who managed a season-high 441 yards through the air on Thanksgiving.
Few Redskins are more excited for this challenge than former Cowboys defensive end Stephen Bowen, who is looking to impose his will in tonight's game.
"I'm excited. I want to get a win, bad—really bad. Probably more than anybody in this building," Bowen said. "We're going to be ready on Sunday."
As a player that has experience on both sides of the rivalry, Bowen has seen a shift in the mentality of his former teammates.
"It's more serious over here. I think over there, the mentality was that it was the same old Redskins…we're going to whip them…it's just a division game," he said. "They can't think that anymore.
"This is a fight to the top, and the loser goes home."
