The Welcome Home Luncheon benefits the work of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, which strives to make a positive and measurable impact in the lives of children, as well as the Redskins Alumni Association.

"What it means to us, what it means to the community, it's always been about the kids," Redskins owner Dan Snyder told the crowd Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Building in downtown Washington, D.C. "We started this 16 years ago now, as a commitment giving back to be part of the community. It's been very, very personal for myself, my wife, my family's perspective and we're so honored to do that. Every year it grows and it's because of you all that it happens and I want to thank you so much for all the support, it's been fantastic."

The team's annual award winners were also introduced at the event, highlighting their performance from the 2014 season, and included:

Redskins President Bruce Allen also announced on Wednesday that Redskins great center Jeff Bostic and linebacker Monte Coleman are going to be the 2015 inductees into the team’s Ring Of Fame.

'Spectacular' teamTaking part in his first Welcome Home Luncheon on Wednesday was first-year Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan, who already "bleeds burgundy and gold," Snyder said.

"He has been really working tirelessly since he got here," Snyder continued. "And I believe, I really believe that he has put together a fantastic team. I think you'll be very, very excited."

Of the 2015 Redskins squad, which wraps up its 2015 preseason slate of games Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars at FedExField, Snyder said, "What I've seen, so far this season, has been spectacular."

"The players on this team are together," he said. "You see it when a player goes down, Niles Paul, and you see what happens as a team, and you see their faces and their tears, and they're understanding that we're all in this together is unbelievable."
