The Washington Redskins announced April 2 that they have re-signed punter Derrick Frost. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Frost is a versatile player who in addition to punting, handled holding duties and some kickoffs.

Frost, 6-4 and 208 pounds, is a three-year veteran who played in all 16 games with the Redskins in 2006, recording 81 punts for 3,471 yards, an average of 42.9, with a long of 60 and 27 punts inside of the 20.

In addition, he handled all holding and occasional kickoff duties.

Frost began his career as an undrafted free agent signed by the Philadelphia Eagles in May 2003. He made his first roster as a member of the Cleveland Browns in December 2003 but was inactive for final three games.

In 2004, he punted in all 16 games for the Browns. The following season he was signed by the Redskins (9/25/06) and punted in 14 games, averaging 40.4 yards per punt.

For his career, Frost has tallied 242 punts for 9,949 yards, a 41.1 average, a long of 60 and 74 punts inside of the 20.

Frost attended Northern Iowa University where he punted 104 times for 4,388 yards, an average of 41.2, with a long of 75. He was also a pitcher on the schools baseball team where he played in 31 games with five starts.
