The Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent kicker Kai Forbath and signed linebacker Mario Addison from the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad.

In corresponding moves, the team also released kicker Billy Cundiff and waived linebacker Markus White.

Forbath (5-11, 197) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 2, 2011. He spent the entire 2011 season on the reserve/non-football injury list. Forbath was waived by Dallas on April 16, 2012, before being claimed off waivers a day later by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the 2012 preseason, Forbath was 5-of-5 on field goal attempts, including connecting on two attempts of 50 yards or more (51 and 55). He was waived by Tampa Bay on Aug. 31.

Forbath, 25, played collegiately at UCLA, where he was a 2009 consensus All-American and won the 2009 Lou Groza Award, given to the top place kicker in college football. He was also named by coaches as a first-team All-Pac 10 selection in 2009 and second-team All-Pac 10 in 2008 and 2010.

Forbath finished his collegiate career as the NCAA record holder for most career games with two or more field goals made (31) and is tied for the record of most career games of at least three field goals made (13).

He was born on Sept. 2, 1987, and attended Notre Dame H.S. in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Addison (6-3, 257) was originally signed as a college free agent by the Chicago Bears on July 26, 2011. He was waived by Chicago on Nov. 21, 2011, before being claimed off waivers a day later by the Indianapolis Colts. He appeared in three games with the Bears and three games with the Colts in 2011, finishing with six tackles (two solo). Addison appeared in the Colts' first three games of the 2012 season and had two tackles.

Addison finished his collegiate career at Troy (2009-10) after spending two years at Northeast Mississippi Community College (2007-08). He appeared in 25 games with 12 starts at Troy, where he totaled 79 tackles (50 solo), 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass defensed.

Addison was born Sept. 6, 1987, and attended Tarrant (Ala.) H.S. where he was a two-time all-state selection.

Cundiff (6-1, 212) was in his first season with the Redskins and was 7-of-12 on field goal attempts.

White (6-4, 264) was originally drafted by the Redskins out of Florida State in the seventh round (224th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. After spending the first two weeks of the 2012 season with Tampa Bay, he signed with the Redskins prior to Week 3. He appeared in Week 3 and was inactive during Weeks 4 and 5.
