Redskins Release Wynn

The Redskins have released defensive end Renaldo Wynn, the team announced on Saturday.

Wynn was released when the Redskins signed punter Glenn Pakulak from the practice squad.

With Hunter Smith ailing due to a groin injury, a second punter was needed for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Wynn is a 13-year NFL veteran. He made the Redskins' roster coming out of training camp this year but was deactivated for four games.

It's possible the team could re-sign Wynn next week if Smith is healthy enough to resume punting.

Coaches like Wynn's versatility--he can play both defensive end and tackle--as well as his veteran leadership.

Wynn played for the Redskins from 2002-06. He returned to the club last offseason.
