The Washington Redskins have released inside linebacker Zach Brown and defensive tackle Stacy McGee, the team announced Wednesday.

Brown started 25 games in two seasons for the Redskins after coming over from the Buffalo Bills in 2017. He played in 13 games his first year, totaling 127 tackles (84 solo) and 2.5 sacks before a foot injury sidelined him for the final three contests. This past season, he added 96 tackles (69 solo) and a sack and earned an overall grade of 89.2 from Pro Football Focus, giving him the third-highest grade among all qualified linebackers.

Brown began his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of North Carolina. He played his first four seasons there before joining the Bills, where he earned second-team All-Pro honors and made his only Pro Bowl appearance in 2016. The Redskins first signed Brown as an unrestricted free agent in April of 2017 and signed him to a multi-year deal last March.

As for McGee, the 29-year-old defensive lineman joined the Redskins in 2017 after four seasons with the Oakland Raiders. He proved to be a formidable option up front during his first year in Washington, playing in all 16 games (10 starts) and racking up 44 tackles.

His production in 2018 was limited, however. McGee began the year on the physically unable to perform list because of offseason core muscle surgery. The Redskins activated him off the PUP list on Nov. 6, and in eight games he made nine tackles and recorded one sack.
