The Washington Redskins are taking on the New Orleans Saints from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in the team's first game after the bye week. Check out a running list of the highlights from the game.

Following a score from the New Orleans Saints on their opening drive, the Redskins set out on their second drive trailing 6-0. Looking for a score, running back Adrian Peterson helps jump start the offense with a catch-and-run for a first down.

Later in the drive, quarterback Alex Smith and receiver Paul Richardson Jr. link up for 23 yards to put the Redskins in the red zone. Kicker Dustin Hopkins would eventually convert a field goal, cutting the Saints lead to 6-3.

After the Saints extended their lead to 13-3 on a drive that included numerous costly penalties on the Redskins, Alex Smith and Adrian Peterson once again began working to put points on the board. Here, Smith dumps the ball off and Peterson does the rest, making a few men miss and throwing a stiff-arm on his way to a 24-yard gain.

Dustin Hopkins caps off the drive by nailing his second field goal of the night to make it a 13-6 ballgame. The 53-yard kick was the sixth make over 50 yards in his career.

Trailing 26-6 late in the second quarter, the Redskins were in desperate need of a momentum-changing play. Cornerback Fabian Moreau brought just that, forcing wide receiver Cameron Meredith to cough up the football. Linebacker Pernell McPhee recovered the ball and set up the offense with a good opportunity to score before the half.

The offense then delivered as quarterback Alex Smith ran it in himself for a four-yard score to make it 26-13 heading into the half. The touchdown ended a period where the Saints had put up 13 unanswered points on the Redskins defense.

Late in the third quarter, tight end Jordan Reed makes a sweet sideline grab despite tight coverage for a 21-yard gain.

The Redskins blitz and get home on first down, sacking Drew Brees for a six-yard loss. Defensive tackle Daron Payne got there first and safety Montae Nicholson cleaned up.

Trailing 43-13 in the fourth quarter, the Redskins offense starts to come to life hitting wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Maurice Harris for back-to-back chunk plays of 24 yards and 42 yards, respectively.

Washington struggled to keep up with the Saints offense in the second half, going scoreless in the third quarter. They scored their first second-half touchdown of the season with 10:25 left in the fourth quarter on a Kapri Bibbs goal line touchdown to cut New Orleans' lead to 43-19.

Drew Brees then went on to lead the Saints offense on a 15-play, game-clinching drive that bled the final 10:25 off of the clock.
