Congratulations SGT Gregory Gilbert, SSG Robert Poulard, SSG Patrice Gordon, SGT Skyler Freeman, and SPC Jonathan McCoy!
In honor of Salute to Service Month, all five soldier mentioned were invited to FedExField on Sunday, November 3, to raise their right hand, recite their oath of enlistment, and commit to protecting our country for five more years. The ceremony was officiated by Captain Jessica Tucker, Co-Commander of Troop Command Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and featured each soldiers' family and friends to celebrate the moment and witness another significant milestone in their loved ones lives.
"We're here to celebrate you five and commend you for committing another five years of service to your country" Captain Tucker continued " We're also here to acknowledge the other half serving, the spouses. Spouses are rarely recognized for their service and sacrifice, yet give so much to our country without any sort of recognition. Captain Tucker then brought down two of the spouses of the re-enlisting service members, and presented them with certificates of recognition for their re-enlistment, as well. A humbling moment for the spouses, families, and service members in attendance.
The ceremony concluded with family photos on the field commemorating the significant moment in each soldiers career. Then, everyone was invited to Owner's Club Suites for a lunch and Redskins/Bills Viewing Party.
We'd like thank the service members who re-enlisted, their friends/families in attendance, Captain Tucker for officiating the ceremony, and Military District of Washington for connecting with us and coordinating this fantastic ceremony.
