With the Redskins lacking both of their starting tackles – Trent Williams and Morgan Moses – throughout the rest of the offseason and into training camp, the selection offers some needed depth and the potential for a starting role in the future.
Christian, a three-year starter for the Cardinals, stands at 6-foot-5 and 298 pounds and decided to enter the NFL Draft before his senior season after earning an honorable mention All-ACC from the conference's coaches in 2017.
Christian has long arms at 35 inches and boasts athletic potential according to scouts.
In his sophomore season, Christian started all 13 games and guided an offense that was one of the best in the country, protecting Lamar Jackson, in which it averaged more than 40 points per game and 500 yards of offense.
He was the lone offensive lineman to start every game as a freshman, earning All-ACC honorable mention honors and an All-ACC Academic selection.
Christian will have time to develop underneath Williams, Moses, Ty Nsekhe and T.J. Clemmings and get some good reps during OTAs.
