The Redskins have added eight-year veteran Arthur Jones to the active roster, as the defensive lineman has appeared in more than 60 regular season games during his NFL career.
The Washington Redskins on Wednesday announced the signing of veteran defensive lineman Arthur Jones.
In a corresponding move, the team placed safety Stefan McClure on Injured Reserve.
Jones, 31, is in his eighth NFL season out of Syracuse, as he's split time during his career with the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts.
In total, Jones has collected 173 tackles with 10 sacks and two fumbles forced in 63 career games.
Jones entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft for the Ravens. After appearing in just two games during his rookie season, the 6-foot-3, 320 pounder played in 14 games with one start during the 2011 season, recording 20 tackles.
In 2012, Jones posted a career-high 4.5 sacks as he helped Baltimore finish third in total defense during the regular season, allowing less than 290 yards per game.
Jones started Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers, tallying a sack and a fumble recovery in a 34-31 victory for the Ravens.
In 2014, Jones signed with the Colts. In his first season in Indianapolis, the Syracuse product appeared in nine games with three starts, recording 23 tackles with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
After spending the entire 2015 season on Injured Reserve due to an ankle injury, Jones returned to the field in 2016 to start all eight of his appearances to record 30 tackles.
Jones' addition comes at a time where Washington has already placed 2017 first-round pick Jonathan Allen on Injured Reserve and Matt Ioannidis could miss time after fracturing his hand in the Redskins' Week 8 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
The Redskins also have Stacy McGee, Terrell McClain, Anthony Lanier II and Ziggy Hood on the active roster.
Jones took to social media to announce his excitement over joining the Redskins as a mid-season signing:
McClure, meanwhile, has been dealing with a hamstring injury over the last few week. A surprising addition to the initial 53-man roster after being signed in early August.
The University of California product appeared in seven games this season, recording three tackles.
