The Redskins have signed free agent running back Jonathan Combs, the team announced on Monday. Combs takes the roster spot previously held by defensive back Cory Hall, who was released last week.
Combs, a 5-9, 230-pound undrafted rookie out of Texas College, worked out for the Redskins April 29-May 1 as part of the team's Rookie Camp.
Combs, a native of Houston, was the leading rusher at Texas College each of the last two seasons. He has played tailback and fullback in his career.
No matter what position he plays, Combs will have to battle for a roster spot. He could compete with both seventh-round pick Nehemiah Broughton as a fullback or join fourth-round pick Manuel White, Jr., in competing at H-back.
