The Redskins announced Aug. 15 that the team has signed linebacker Jeff Posey, running back A.J. Harris and offensive lineman Spencer Folau.
The team also announced the release of linebacker Chris Clemons, running back Kerry Carter and defensive back Ben Emanuel with injury settlements.
Posey, 6-4 and 241 pounds, is an eight-year NFL veteran who began his career with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 1997. Most recently, he spent the past three seasons with the Buffalo Bills under current Redskins cornerbacks coach and former Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray.
During his career, he has appeared in 123 games with 76 starts and amassed 357 tackles (221 solo), 20.5 sacks, two interceptions and eight forced fumbles.
In 2005, Posey appeared in 16 games with 15 starts for the Bills and recorded 68 tackles (47 solo), three sacks and eight pressures. He played college ball at Southern Mississippi.
Folau, 6-5 and 310 pounds, is an eight-year NFL veteran who has spent time on the rosters of Baltimore, Miami and, most recently, New Orleans during his career. He has appeared in 91 career games with 43 starts.
Folau was waived by the Saints in August 2005 and was out of football for the season. He played college ball at Idaho.
Harris, 6-1 and 230 pounds, appeared in 43 games during his career at Northern Illinois. During his college career, he rushed for 1,687 yards on 342 carries and 12 touchdowns. He also recorded 197 receiving yards on 31 catches. Harris was a try-out for the Redskins during their 2006 rookie camp.
