The Washington Redskins are taking on the New York Giants at FedExField to finish the season series with their division rival. Check out a running list of the highlights from the game.
On third-and-3 near midfield, defensive tackle Daron Payne bursts through the line for a sack on Eli Manning. The Giants were forced to punt.
At the end of the first quarter the Giants led 7-0, thanks to a pick six by Giants safety Curtis Riley.
On second-and-goal, Ryan Kerrigan sacked Manning for a loss of 14 yards, forcing the Giants to kick a field goal after an incompletion on third down. The Giants led 10-0.
After a series of misfortunes, including penalties, picks and missed tackles by the Redskins, the Giants lead 34-0 at halftime.
Trailing 40-0 entering the fourth quarter, the Redskins defense provided a much-needed highlight. Linebacker Mason Foster jumped in front of a Kyle Lauletta pass for an interception. The turnover set the Washington offense up with solid field position.
Already in New York territory, the offense would finish the job. Quarterback Josh Johnson broke containment and scrambled into the end zone for the Redskins' first points of the day.
Trailing by a wide margin, Washington opted to go for a two-point conversion and converted as Johnson found tight end Vernon Davis in the back of the end zone to make it a 40-8 game.
Johnson's strong fourth quarter continued on the first play of the next offense drive. Finding receiver Jamison Crowder across the middle, Johnson was able to drop it off for a completion. Crowder did the rest, taking the pass 79 yards to the house for a touchdown. The score was a career long for both Crowder and Johnson.
Washington then converted another two-point conversion, this time with a pass to receiver Michael Floyd.
Despite the scores late in the game, the slow start was too much to overcome, as the Redskins fell to the Giants 40-16.
