The Redskins' first draft pick in this April's NFL Draft will be the 21st selection in the second round, or No. 53 overall.

Washington does not have a first-round pick in 2006 due to a trade last year with the Denver Broncos.

On April 19, 2005, the Redskins acquired Denver's first-round pick (No. 25 overall) in the '05 draft to select quarterback Jason Campbell. In return, the Broncos received a third-rounder last year and a first- and fourth-rounder this year.

The first-round pick, now belonging to the Broncos, comes in at No. 22 overall.

The Redskins also have a third-round pick, a fifth-round pick, two sixth-rounders and a seventh-round pick. The additional sixth-round pick comes from the Rod Gardner trade with the Carolina Panthers last July.

In his season-ending press conference, head coach Joe Gibbs was asked if the team had interest in acquiring a first-round pick in 2006.

"Last year I would not have dreamed we would trade for a first," Gibbs said. "So I think when something comes up, you want to be alert to anything that could happen. Certainly we want to be aggressive.

"Anything that can help the football team, we're going to be ready to try and do it."

The NFL Draft will be held April 29-30.
