A native of McLean, Va., Kevin Hogan is back in his hometown area as the Redskins have traded for the third-year quarterback from the Browns.

For the second time this offseason, the Washington Redskins have traded for a quarterback.

The Redskins announced on Friday that they have acquired quarterback Kevin Hogan and the No. 205 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the No. 188 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Hogan, 25, is entering his third season after being selected in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Browns that September.

In his two seasons with Cleveland, Hogan appeared in eight games with four starts, throwing for 621 yards with four touchdowns to seven interceptions. Additionally, he's carried the ball 18 times for 176 yards and one rushing touchdown.

As a rookie, Hogan appeared in four games. In his NFL debut in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals that year, the Stanford product completed 12-of-24 passes for 100 yards along with 104 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Hogan appeared in three of the Browns' first five games during the 2017 season. In Week 6 against the Houston Texans, Hogan earned his first career start, completing 20-of-37 passes for 140 yards with one touchdown to three interceptions. He also carried the ball five times for 36 yards.

During his time at Stanford, Hogan appeared in 50 games for the Cardinal and set school records for offensive yards (10,634), most career wins by a quarterback (36) and most career rushing yards by a quarterback (1,249). He earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors as a senior in 2015.

Hogan is originally from McLean, Va., and attended Gonzaga College H.S. in Washington, D.C., where he compiled 4,762 passing yards and 37 touchdowns in three seasons. He was born Oct. 20, 1992.

With the trade, Hogan is the fourth quarterback on the roster joining Alex Smith, Colt McCoy and Stephen Morris.
