Against some of the best competition in college football last season, new Washington Redskins linebacker Martrell Spaight stood out, as he was a first-team All-SEC selection while pacing Arkansas' defense.

A consensus first-team All-SEC selection during his senior season at Arkansas, Spaight recorded a team-high 128 tackles along with two forced fumbles and an interception.
During his junior season, the six-foot, 236 pounder recorded 22 tackles along with a sack. During his first-career start in a game against Samford, Spaight recorded a personal season-high in tackles with seven.
Before becoming a force in arguably college football's best conference, Spaight was a monster for Coffeyville Community College, as he recorded 130 tackles with 13.5 tackles for loss and three pass breakups.
CBSSport.com's Rob Rang said Spaight stood out during the annual Senior Bowl Game, writing that he "flashed with his agility and terrific closing speed, making several eye-popping hits."

Bottom Line:
Spaight played two years of JUCO football and started just two games as a junior at Arkansas. This past season was his first as a full-time starter and he is still learning the nuances of the position. He's physical and productive between the tackles, but might be limited when asked to make plays on the perimeter.
